As research continued, it became difficult to deny that some of the stones looked like animals that lived during ancient times, possibly more that 12,000 years ago.
The first "Ancient Animal" to be recognized was what appeared to be a "NA Lion or Scimitar Cat", 009. Not considering the possible origins, the distinct "Lion" head profile seemed obvious.
The discovery of other Ancient Animals in the collection, such as the "Mammoth" and "Pterosaur" came later. All were subjected to much scrutiny. At that time, the idea was difficult for us or anyone to seriously consider. As soon as the word Pterosaur was mentioned, things got quiet.
We understand, through no fault of their own, who could imagine this context and list of Ancient Animals. But now there many more detailed examples. Making it hard not to consider.
The Pterosaur was recognized only as a recurring "something" early in the research. Not knowing, it was assigned several different names. Including "Winged Bison".
Example 266 was the first to suggest a 'Pterosaur". Considering the detail and apparent shaping marks, the figures on 266 seemed obvious. Without knowing what it was, we called it a "Giant Bird on Bison". At that time, it was the closest description we could come up with.
Only after studying 266, 263 and the detail that they retained, was the Pterosaur seriously considered. Now we're finding it recurs often in the WB collection.
The results of an internet search of "Ancient Large Bird", consistently and almost exclusively, identified the, flying reptile, Pterosaur. The pictures provided by the search were stunning. The shape of the Pterosaur's wings, head, beak, they were all quite similar to those found on what I was calling the "Giant Bird". Everything except the long neck. But how could that have been done? Much less survive. The long neck is apparently shown on at least one example, 018. But it is carved into the stone.
Also notable is that the Pterosaur is the only animal included in the collection that is apparently "out of time". All others have been tentatively verified as being present at that point.
Although mainstream archaeology suggests that the Pterosaur was extinct millions of years ago, it's recurrence in the collection and excellent detail, suggest a different story.
Research has been done from almost every conceivable angle including legends and myths. It always comes back to the Pterosaur.
Now the Woolly Mammoth and Mastodon. The first "Woolly Mammoth" was suggested by a colleague after looking at a few photos. The collection was reviewed and many more were discovered.
Recent discoveries reflect what is currently supported by mainstream science. That the Mammoth and Mastodon played a big roll in not only the survival of Ancient Man, but also of the Ice Age Megafauna predators. For example, the "Bear on Mammoth" recurs often in the collection. One of the more recent discoveries is what I've called a "Portable Petroglyph". It is an etched scene showing a female NA or Cave Lion feeding a male and also one of her young. It is obvious in the scene that she is feeding them a young Mastodon. This particular scene has shown up on at least one more example.
The subject of a "mother attending to her young", regardless of the kind of animal, is recurring.
Also recently discovered are distinctly different symbols for the Woolly Mammoth and Mastodon. They are often shown together with the Bear.
These discoveries are not yet published. They will be included soon, in the Paleo Hunter website.
The one of the most controversial subjects in the collection is 316. The apparent "T- rex" type scull. It looks too much like it to be a coincidence. It could be a Big Horn Sheep. Because the subject appears to be a scull, it would suggest it was modeled after another scull. Outside the ancient context of this collection, the image would certainly be dismissed as chance. But under the circumstances, it should be considered.
The many Ancient Animal species represented on 018, "Shaman with Headdress", are a list of those present during Paleolithic times. Including those found on the side view, there are 15 or more different animals. This was the keystone that enabled us to discover the other examples.
Examples discussed are
009, 018, 048, 114, 223, 263, 266, 316, 318.

009 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It is consistently yellow in color. It is approximately 6" x 9" x 7". 009 is an example of a "Multi Figure Stone".
009 is one of the nine Keystones.
Looking at the Front view, outlined in yellow is what appears to be a the profile of the head of a Large Cat, resembling a Sabre Tooth Cat. The discovery of 009 helped to strengthen the theory that these Figure Stones are from an ancient time. The apparent Sabre Tooth Cat is one more animal, on a list of Ancient Animals in the collection, that include the Woolly Mammoth and Pterasaur.
Looking at the Right view, outlined in yellow, although worn, is an amazing example of what appears to be a "Roaring North American Lion with Cub". The facial features closely resemble artist renditions and also the Lion of today. Notice Her Cub, outlined in violet, clinging to Her head. This positioning is recurring on other examples of this subject.
As typical of other "Roaring Mother Bear or Cat with Cubs", it shows an exaggerated mouth and tongue.
Notice the one eye that is open and the other closed. Also, notice the open ear and the other obscured by the Cub. These details are also typical, in some fashion, in most "Roaring Mother Bear or Cat with Cubs".
Looking at the Left view notice what appears to be a "Bear on Bison". In this example you can see a resemblance to the " Fertility Stone". Notice the Bear on top outlined in blue and the Bison outlined in red. Typically the animals in the "Fertility Stones" are of the same species. Also, there is a different positioning.
Looking at the Back view, although worn, notice what appears to be the recurring "Bear on Woolly Mammoth or Mastodon". In this case, based on recurring details, it suggests a Mastodon. The Mastodon is outlined in violet. The Bear, outlined in blue, is clinging to the top back of the Mastodon. In the recurring subject "Bear on Woolly Mammoth or Mastodon", the Bear can be found in any position across the side. From the top of the neck to, as in this example, the back end.
Included is the Bottom view.
018 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It is approximately 10" x 7" x 4". It is light pink in color. 018 is an Example of a
"Shaman with Multi Subject Headdress".
018 is one of the more inclusive stones in the collection. It was hard to imagine, then accept these Subjects. 018 required the closer consideration that these Figure Stones could be Ancient.
018 Headdress has several apparent Ancient Animals.
Looking at the Front view, although worn, notice, in the lower left, outlined in green, the profile of the "Shaman". Directly above Him, outlined in red, is a "Giant Bison". Continuing counter clockwise, outlined in blue, a roaring "Short Faced Bear". Next, go down to the lower right. Outlined in green, is the head profile of an apparent "Giant Sloth". Above the "Giant Sloth", also outlined in green, is a "Mastodon". Note the "Mastodon" is located in the center of the other animals. To the right of the "Mastodon", outlined in green, is a recurring "Unknown Figure". To the left of the "Mastodon", is what appears to be the recurring howling "Dire Wolf". Just above the "Mastodon" is the figure of a recurring "Odd Face". (92) To the upper left of the "odd face", also outlined in green, is what appears to be the head profile of a "Large Reptile"? To the lower left of the "Reptile", outlined in pink, is what appears to be a "Giant Hippopotamus". And there are more.
All these animals lived during Ancient times. If not these animals, then what else could they be?
The profile of the Shaman was recognized first. Preliminary identification of the other Subjects came only after studying the collection and extensive research.
Included are the Left, Left dwg, Back and Right views.
048 Is composed of high silica igneous rock conglomerate. It's matrix is tan and white with white fragments. It is approximately 3" x 5" x 2". 048 is an example of an ancient "Muskox".
Looking at the Front view, notice, outlined in blue, what appears to be a "Muskox". Although worn, notice the detail still visible around it's head and horns. Also, note the type stone used to represent it's typically thick fur.
Included are the Back, Top, Bottom, Right and Left views.
114 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It is brown in color. It is approximately 3 1/2" x 6" x 2". 114 is an example of what appears to be a
"North American Lion". Does he appear to have a short mane?
Looking at the Front view, notice, outlined in yellow a North American Lion. Although worn, the facial details are still visible. They resemble artist renditions and fossils recreations.
See 125 for similar example.
Looking a t Detail 1, although worn, outlined in various pastel colors, is what appears to be a "Totem" of different animals. Note the Mastodon outlined in yellow.
To date, this "Totem" is unique in the collection.
Included are the Back, Right and Left views.
223 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It is white and brown in color. It is approximately 7" x 7" x 4". 223 is an example of a " Cat on Woolly Mammoth".
Looking at the front view, notice, outlined in blue, a "Woolly Mammoth". Also, outlined in yellow, a Large Cat. Both are in positions typical of other
"Cat on Woolly Mammoth".
Looking at the Back view, notice the "Young Woolly Mammoth" outlined in yellow. Look closely you will see the Bear, outlined in blue, clinging on to the side of the Mammoth.
Included are the Right, Left and Top views and an alternate interpretation of the Front view.
The figure of the "Winged Animal" on 266 was obvious. Without knowing what it was, I called it a "Giant Bird on Winged Bison".
When the "Woolly Mammoth" was identified, I considered that this may also be an "Ancient Animal". I searched "Ancient Large Bird". The results consistently included a flying reptile, the Pterosaur. The pictures provided by the search were stunning. Immediately I recognized it as the "Giant Bird". The shape of it's wings, head, beak, were all the same.
263 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It is yellow to brown in color. It is approximately 4" x 4" x 2". 263 is an example of a "Multi Subject Stone".
Looking at Detail 3, notice, outlined in green, the "Pterosaur". Also, outlined in red, a "Giant Bison". Both in positions typical of other "Pterasaur on Giant Bison" or "Bear on Bison".
Looking at the Front view, notice, outlined in blue, a "Roaring Mother Bear". Her three "Cubs" are outlined in pastel colors.
Looking at the Right view, notice, outlined in yellow, a "Shaman" with a unique headdress, Also, outlined in blue, a "Growling Bear".
Included are the Back and Left views.

266 is composed of an excellent quality, high silica igneous rock conglomerate. It has red matrix with lighter red and yellow pieces. It is approximately 10" x 8" x 6". 266 is an example of a "Multi Subject Stone" with "Pterosaur on Winged Bison".
Looking at the Front view, notice the "Pterosaur" outlined in green. Also notice, outlined in red, the "Winged Bison". They are in positions similar to other "Pterasaur on Bison", Bear on Bison, etc. Although worn, notice the facial details of the Pterasaur.
Looking at Detail 3, notice, outlined in green, how the end of the "Pterasaur's" right wing is on the side of the "Winged Bison's" head, it's left wing over the his back.
Looking at Detail 2, notice, outlined in red, the detail of the "Winged Bison", who appears dead. Suggested by the facial details and that he is lying on his side. As in the recurring Subject "Bear on Dead Bison".
Looking at Detail 4, notice, outlined in green, the head of the Pterasaur. Also, notice his head, open beak, eyes, including the nasal hole.
Their shapes are similar to artist renditions and fossils.
Looking at the Bottom view, notice the "Fertility Stone" apparently showing an "Unknown Animal and Bison Breeding". The Male looks similar to the recurring "Unknown Animal" found in 002, 152 and others. Notice the Female, outlined in green.
The Right view appears to show a Bear outlined in blue, on Bison, outlined in red. In positions typical of other "Bear on Bison".
Included are the Right, Left and Detail 4 views.

Looking at the Front view, notice, outlined in blue, a Bear. Also a Bison, outlined in red. Both in positions typical of other "Bear on Bison". Note that the "Altar Bowl" is located at the top of the Bear's back.
Looking at the Back view, notice, outlined in red, a Bison. Also what appears to be a "Shaman" Not like any other "Shaman in the collection. Note his unusual helmet. Possibly the "Unknown Animal".152
Looking at Detail 1, notice the"Roaring Mother at with Cub". The "Roaring Mother Cat" is outlined in yellow. Her Cub is outlined in violet. Notice that one eye and ear are obscured. A recurring detail.
Looking at the Top view, notice what appears to be the "Unknown Animal", outlined in green. He surrounds the "Bowl" of the "Altar Stone".
Looking at the Bottom view, in any other context I would not give it a thought, but considering everything, does that not look like a
Tyrannosaurus rex scull, or something similar?
As study continued, it became difficult to deny that some of the recurring subjects looked like animals that lived 13,000 years ago and earlier. One of those animals was the "Woolly Mammoth".
318 is composed of high silica igneous rock. It's color is shades of brown and yellow and white . It is approximately 8" x 8" x 4". 318 is an example of "Bear on Woolly Mammoth".
Looking at the front view, notice, outlined in violet, a Woolly Mammoth. Also, outlined in blue, a Bear. Both in positions typical of other "Bear on Mammoth".
The Trunk and Tusk details are relatively typical of other examples.
Included are the Back, Right, Left, Top and Bottom views.
This Commentary is where this context establishes itself as possibly being from the Ice Age, or Paleolithic times. The Ancient Animals discussed in this Commentary provide some of the only clues to the origin of these Figure Stones and the age of this Ancient Culture.
At first, the evidence was interpreted to suggested a major shift from the accepted time line. But further research indicates that there is a close parallel.
It seems that nearly all of the known Subjects fall within time and place parameters. The Pterosaur is the only one that does not fit the currently accepted timeline.
Although unlikely, it is impossible to overlook the Pterosaur's detail and recurrence in the collection.
